George Dickel's distillery in Tullahoma sits about 25 minutes east of Lynchburg via TN-55 — close enough that a full-day Lynchburg-and-Dickel package handles both. Uncle Nearest 1856 in Shelbyville is about 30 minutes north of Lynchburg via US-231, on the way back to Nashville, and offers one of the most-talked-about visitor experiences on the Trail — honoring the African-American distiller who taught Jack Daniel the craft, with a tasting program and on-site experience built around that history.
